Default The Queen gives out a copy of 1984

Here is one that MKP Davies will be delighted with:

Now I know there was a campaign a while back for people to send them to politicians, but I bet you didn't think Buckingham Palace would be joining in.

They shouldn't of sent the book to labour MP's most of them think 1984 is a template Manuel for good governance.

Unless this is some early April fools then this is surely of some significance. Since when do we ever know what gifts the Queen gives to her guests - never is the answer. OK I'll accept that Buck Palace might release the gifts and the media never report it. It doesn't really change the significance that her Majesty is willing to give this politically charged book to the Mexican President. If only she had refused to sign Lisbon before ratification was certain...

I think the Queen sending one might have given them a bit of a hint. You know how these gifts tend to work. One head of state gives something that characterises their country and the other one does the same in return, as a kind of gesture of goodwill. Now considering Brown got a box set of 25 American films from Obama recently and the Queen has sent this book it does kind of say something to them. Brown is quickly acquiring an international reputation for being an idiot and that gift to him was quite contemptuous.

Its kind of sickening hey, that the story is published so comfortably.

I'd agree with that. I think the queen does what she can with in her power I was watching an interview some time ago when Margret Thatcher was saying how much behind the scenes the queen has to do with politics and that the queen was a far better asset to this country than any prime minister as she'd been their for 60 years. So yeah I think the book was a gesture of the world we now live in.

As for the gift from Obama gave Brown that did P*** me off but it was funny the fact brown must have got the most insulting present any PM of this country has ever received off an American president.

Yes and especially as he had gone to all the effort to find a gift to fit on his table that was made out of some ship that had something to do with the slave trade, since apparently his table is also made out of the same kind of wood.

Brown is such a sucker; I mean recall that episode with Lady Thatcher. That one had me in stitches, but as we all know it was a UKIP candidate that got a genuine blessing from her at the 20th anniversary of the Bruges Group. Lady Thatcher most likely invited him in so she could sling her handbag at him.

I think it would be reasonable to assume she used the opportunity to visit no.10 as it was good publicity for Thatcher just before the release of her book statecraft.
