They would be pursuing a lot less of them if they put them into prison when they caught them instead of letting go with a warning and a skiing holiday or new bike now and then.

I know! lets have a new law and prosecute anyone who causes an accident or drives dangerously because they were busy doing something else, like lighting a fag, fiddling wth sat nav, eating a mcdonals or whatever.
We could call it 'driving without due care and attention'. hang on a minute....................

Seeing this on TV from a great distance last night I felt quite weird viewing utter bureaucratic fascism at work in the homeland of people who fought two world wars and survived the worst conflict catastrophe in history. Now they will be placed in prison for two years because someone may have had to speak, while driving a car, to a person who may have needed to contact them urgently. Surely, a hands free version is the same as talking to a passenger or trying to quell a child fight in the back seat? They aren't going to put you in prison for two years for doing that too, are they ....?

Scroll to the bottom of this link for the IPCC figures BBC NEWS | UK | 'Needless risks' in police chases The late Paul Smith suggested this a 100 word highway code * Drive on the left. Make sure you can see and be seen. Keep a constant look out all around. Be aware of signs and regulations and why they are there. Be predictable.

However, I do not want to see police snooping on drivers to see if they are twiddling car radios, etc. I think obeying the law is one thing, but be picked up on a catch-all careless driving ticket for "apparent" breaches is another. |
