Default Pubwatch

Our town operates it, do any of the others?

The idea is that all CCTV systems owned by private businesses are linked into the police system.

We now have posters all over town with a picture of a policeman saying "I'm watching you"

I'll try and get a photo of one.

Nope, nothing like that in my area. We have those 'banned from one, banned from all' schemes, but nothing like this.

They've had it in Newcastle-under-Lyme for a while, I believe.

I rarely venture into town though. Country pubs are where it's at.

With that, I agree.

This is one of the best in my area:
The Alford Arms

Here's my local:

About halfway down the page.

Bottom of page.

It's reasonably interesting in that it's in a country park, you park up and have to cross a river, a canal and a steam railway to get to it.

Come a summer weekend, you can just sit back in the beer garden and watch the trains pull in. Quite nice.

Not so far from Leek:
Ashbourne Derbyshire - Green Man Hotel

I stayed there a few times.

"The Royal Green Man and Blackamoor's Head Commercial and Family hotel".
But it was contracted to "The Royal Green Man and Blacks Head" at the times I stayed there.

Tenby is hardly a metropolis.

Not sure if it's the same thing now
with CCTV, but Pubwatch, with
the "Owl" poster has been
in operation since the late 80's....
Not a new idea, didn't really work
as the Police were reluctant to enforce
it as it was about keeping barred customers
out of all Pubwatch members in a local area
if they were barred from one.
When I worked for S+N Breweries in the early 90's they were keen not to be involved...
Make of that what you will.............
