That's very noble of you, Modern UKIP. I'm opposed to the smoking ban on principle, too.

I think that if a proportion of public houses want to switch to becoming smoking only premises they should be allowed to do so. It is almost certainly only likely to be a minority of all public houses (perhaps less than 20%) who would wish to do so given the choice.

I was particularly annoyed to read a couple of weeks ago that Charles Kennedy MP (the former leader of the europhile Liberal Dims) allegedly got into some sort of argument with train staff on a journey on the Penzanze - Paddington line over him smoking out of the train window.

I'm annoyed because Kennedy allegedly claimed he thought that he had a right to smoke out of the train window - having just voted in the Commons, as a Scottish MP who has no say on such matters as smoking as regards his own Scottish constituency, for a ban on smoking being imposed right across England.

If Kennedy was smoking out of the train window - apparently in breach of the rules of the railway company and allegedly of the law/ban he voted for (as regards smoking in public in England) - then this would be yet nother example of the hypocrisy of the europhiles in our country who are mostly people who support devolution as long as everyone gets it in the UK except us English.

I've a few sources on my PC somewhere about this,
I think there was some real dodgy statistics,
from the U.S.
Like if you live with a smoker you will inhale XXX amount
of XXX chemical by passive smoking.
But as the smoker yourself, in other findings, a 20 a
day man will inhale less XXXchemical than the
non-smoker. It basically concluded that you were more
likley to die from a smoking related disease if you were a
non-smoker!!!
It was around 1992-3 I think, someone must have a link,
it was all over most mainstream News Channels. I'm sure
someone was made to look a right dick head on TV while
reporting on it too.

Granted, civil libertarian concerns don't seem to be an overriding concern in much of British society imho. Y'all seem to be a special, and wonderful minority.
The Amish ...

Could the palace ban be the first experience of the EU jackboot intruding into the personal realm of the monarch? Has 1200 years of repelling the invaders and holding the fort been flicked away? Will the royals now submit blindly to traffic speed-limits?
