Default Tough new powers to tackle organised crime

http://www.politics.co.uk/news/bills/organised-crime-bill/tough-new-powers-tackle-organised-crime-$463557.htm

Quote:
Gangsters engaged in drug dealing, people trafficking or fraud could be placed under curfew or have their movements restricted under tough new powers unveiled today.

A new government bill proposes the creation of serious crime prevention orders, which could be imposed on people either convicted or believed to be involved in serious crime, which includes smuggling, trafficking, money laundering and corruption.
Believed to be? Believed? Believed by whom? The same people who believed a Brazillian electrician was a terrorist? Are we doing away with the due process of law in this country or what?

It is just horrific. How can anyone have their property confiscated and their movement and communications restricted WITHOUT being convicted of anything?

I can't believe that this doesn't breach the Human Rights Act anyway.

I love the fact that we're supposed to 'trust' the authorities not to abuse this. Look at how they abuse the powers in the Terrorism Acts FFS.

Because that requires a certain amount of evidence that would lead to a prosecution.

But if they don't have enough evidence to prosecute them, then surely what they are doing here is a breach of their human rights!

New age EUSSR PC schoolteacher responds:

Repeat after me the following line:

The prosecution is the jury and the presumption is of guilt.

Now go home and write it out a hundred times, and memorize it. It is the Word of the EU and therefore God's honest truth. Napoleon, Monnet and Delors Forever. Eternal Presidents. Double Plus Good. The New Euro Third Way. Peace is war. Freedom is slavery. Ignorance is strength.

Yes, I'm reminded so vividly of why I departed the EUSSR in 2001. *sigh*
