I rather support this idea. Fighting radicalism is fine, just as we did against communism, as long as we don't end up with the witch-hunts and suppression. A media war against radical Islam is the least offensive/intrusive way of tackling a growing problem.

While a government doesn't have the right to push one ideology onto the entire populace, it does have a responsibility to protect its citizens from ideologies that seek to oppress all other ideologies.

We should protect the individual's right to believe what they wish at all costs, but that doesn't mean that as a society we can't protect ourselves and discourage certain trends. It is no different to the war against drug abuse or other cults.

I don't need a government telling me their version of the truth thanks.

What is radical? Who defines what is radical? Is UKIP radical for wanting out of the EU?

If people try to spread terrorist ideas, arrest them and boot them out if possible. Don't have some wishy washy media dept saying "Oh no it isn't".

All I can see this becoming is a propaganda machine for the current government.

No thanks, Big Brother and Nannyism of the worst order.

Fair enough, and I share the same concerns. However, radical islam is a real threat to Britain, UKIP is not. It isn't radicalism that is the problem it is radicalism that encourages violence.

I would expect the government to take action in some form against anything that promotes violence against other people. This is why we have age ratings on films and games (partly), limits on how much people are supposed to drink, a ban on drugs etc.

Yep. So incitement to violence and murder should be punished, using laws that this country has had since the year dot.

I see no purpose in a government information/disinformation unit for this.

Unfortunately unless laws are enforced they're not worth the paper they're written on. As far as I know you're not allowed by law to ride a bike on the pavement or cast litter in the street, but when was the last time anyone heard about these laws being enforced?

It's impossible to enforce all the laws all the time. Murders will go unsolved, litter dropped without people seeing etc.

What is not to be tollerated is the police ignoring crimes when they happen. Because they have so much paper work to fill out, it's easier just to pretend some things never happened.

If someone is caught encouraging others to commit crimes of terror, the police should feel compelled to take full action.
