Using the Old Testament to "justify" a means to create a backlash (which is what you are implying) is demeaning to the Bible and shows a lack of ability in debate! If you are not religious how are you going to appreciate the message of the OT, once it is dusted off. I assume the Bible sits on a shelf and moved only for the dusting!

When someone is getting the upper hand by using a method that one is not allowed to use in return it would be completely forgivable to question whether we are doing the right thing.

While I do not like to say "fight terror with terror" it would seem that doing what we are doing both at home and abroad is not what could be considered winning. I would go so far as to say that we are losing hands down every time.

It is not a question of morality any more, it is not a question of dignity. We have to do everything that in necessary within our powers to win, to beat the enemy and we should never question our methods until we have won.

The time for hand wringing should be after victory not during.
