Full steam ahead for ID cards

Formal procurements are due to launch once the identity cards legislation, now before Parliament, receives Royal Assent.

Anyone who thinks parliament is going to scrutinise ID cards in anyway should forget it. It's a done deal.

How much are they going to spend up front? £500 million, a billion? If it all fails due to Human rights or the law lords getting uppity, what will they say? Will they admit to wasting our money?

Can you give a rough estimate on upfront costs Matt?

I wouldn't have a clue.

All I do know, is they are already spending millions and putting jobs out to tender.

Millions would give us a few new hospitals or help ailing schools!
