admittedly he is not talking about retaining the content of such communication, but that is but surely a short step away?

This is the "information creep" we are beginning to hear more and more of. Give an inch and they take a yard!

It seems to happen in any society, that some day the bunch on power start abusing that power. They may think they are doing it for genuine reasons, but it always ends up the same.

The difference now being technology is making it easier for tyranny.

One day I can hear the argument that the whole country should have curfews, 24/7 surveillance, tracking chips in everything (including us) and government is God, deciding what people can and can't do in every area of life. Of course it will be for our own good and if you have nothing to hide you have nothing to fear, just like Hitler said to his people.

The hillarious thing is, the more supressed the people become, the more likely there will be terrorism and unrest. They forget to tell you that though don't they.

Well, best of luck to him with that one.

I read about that in yesterday's Austrian newspaper Diepresse - the reaction of Austrian minister of Interior was clear "no".

It seems interesting to me that Mr. Clark wants EU to do the dirty work for him. I'm no fan of EU but something is smelling terribly here.

It's Clarke.

Fat blokes tend to sweat a lot a and he is one fat bloke. Fatter than Prescott even. In the hot weather of late things tend to hum down at New Labour HQ.
