I wonder what would happen to those Muslims who oppose democracy and refuse to vote.

mkp

I have nothing to do with shaping EDP policy and have never even met any of their people, except on this and another forum. I'm amused to know that you think I'm a politician or a candidate or anything else in a political party.

I'm just a normal every day voter with differing opinions to you in some things and I even voted for the UKIP candidate in at the last European elections, in my area.

I've never voted EDP and couldn't if I wanted to. They had no candidates in my area for the GE. But UKIP did.

O.K.

I thought you had joined up with them. My mistake.

I'd like to see what they would do if I refused to turn up and vote. I wonder if that has happened in Oz. Must have, to the web!

In Australia, it is relatively easy to avoid the compulsory registration. In moving to a new address in a different electoral district, for example, it is simple to fail to register, by neglect or by choice, in the new district. Few of the officials looking after the rolls vigilantly seek out the unregistered.

Even for those on the rolls, the penalties for not voting are slight. Many of those not voting are never followed up at all. Of those asked to explain their failure to vote, a sensible-sounding excuse, such as sickness or sudden business outside the district, often is sufficient to satisfy the electoral officials. Only a small fraction of non-voters are ever fined for breaking the law, and even in this case the cost is small, such as $20.

In other words, waste of time.

I absolutely understand why people are against this. No one wants to be ordered to do anything.

But my points are valid.

And as for muslims who didn't want to vote - well this is Labour we're talking about. That's the very reason it won't happen. Labour will not upset the muslims.

Not ignoring you comment. Didn't read it properly. I did join up. On the single issue of an EP. There were no candidates in my area, so I voted UKIP instead.

I'm only a voter, not a candidate or campaigner for any political party. I do campaign for the CEP, but they are not standing for election. Its a campaign group only.

I will vote next time for any party who will allow a debate and referendum for England on an EP. If indeed, any do. We'll see.

You know UKIP are for public initiated refernedums right? In other words if you can get enough sigs from like minded people, you can force it onto the agenda.

No, I didn't know that. However, through a combined effort, the CEP hope to put it on all party agendas. I have absolutely no doubts that we will be successful. Especially if DD wins the Conservative Party leadership.

UKIP MAN is just starting out

The only way to make people VOTE is to have politicle parties worth VOTING for.

A lot of people dont vote cos they see politicians as self satisfying lying sceeming Prats............

And the ones that do VOTE are trying to keep the other self satisfying lying sceeming Prats out............

(except for UKIP VOTERS who have searched their sole and made the right choice)

Once you change that then they will vote.
