Default May I make a little suggestion . . .

This is for the benefit of party officials that may be reading (mark) :-

This area on the forum is absolutely choc-a-bloc with evidence of a police state in the making. To prove that UKIP isn't just anti-EU but has a full opinion on many things, why doesn't the national party run a "UKIP against the Police State" campaign.

Collect, organise, document and publish evidence of this Government creating a police state, and distribute to branch level. Create a national logo for use (something like "UKIP - Say NO to Police State" or preferably "UKIP - Campaign against the Police State") and then let the branches kick off with a huge campaign of letter writing, adverts in the local rags, Public campaigning (door to door, leaflet or just public meetings, street stalls) and really make some noise.

Just a thought . . .

Alex

It'll open us up to the conspiracy theorist attack.

Doesn't mean we shouldn't do it though. I am amazed at how much they are trying to push through.

RE: Conspiracy theorist attack: We've already been attacked by that (about the EU), didn't do us much harm as days later we won 9 more seats in 2004 June Elections, and retained 3.

Yes it is quite astounding the amount of legislation they intend to pass.

Combine the EU and the police state,, and double the impact of both in your adverts. Double your money (plus its the truth, of course)

regards,
Gareth.

Edit; if you say "this bad thing is because of the EU" Blair cant very well turn round and say "no, we (labour) decided to do it off our own backs"

Ah, but the main point of this excersise is to invigorate UKIP and show that we're not just about anti-EU.

I think our civil libertarian stance will be a vote winner, especially in Lib Dem areas, where UKIP are often duelling with them for votes, such as the South West.

We need to suggest this to our regional organisers and branch chairmen.

I'm at a UKIP dinner tonight so I will but alas I think I know what the response will be . . . as you mention it is the sort of thing needed for the SW.

Alas.

Since the idea went down ok(ish) I've done a little work on improving the Idea. Firstly we should run a nationwide campaign against the police state, then one against the nanny state.

If and when we get attention for it we can use that attention to promote our *positive* message, laying down what we want to see, not simply re-iterating our negativity toward the EU and Nanny/Police state(s).

In preparation I have drafted a logo - I have some concerns about the logo's quality and the clarity of the message emitted by the logo.

Here it is:

Opinions please (and criticism too!)

Best,

Alex

Nice work, but I'm a bit concerned it could be portrayed as anti-police, with the uniform of a normal bobby being used.

I'd rather see a more sinister style stormtrooper type outfit crossed out. Like the Irish riot police were wearing at that riot/march.

That's the concerns we had.

[edit] I've made one with a storm-trooper style helmet now.
