Matt - you miss my point, which is: we can all become criminals simply by living.

With a single law, we could all become criminals overnight - if the definition of a criminal is someone who breaks a law - any law.

Have you broken any law this year, have you?

Which is why I say you have to get that level of criminality right.

Do I think you shoud go to prison for speeding 1 mile over the limit? Hell no.

Do I think you should go to prison for not paying your t.v.licence? Hell no.

I fully except we can all be criminals to a degree. So what are you saying? That we don't imprison anyone?

What I am saying is (reference your saying telescreens only for criminals) is that we will all be deemed to be criminals so none will escape the telescreen.
Or its equivalent.
Such as I.D. cards which could contain a chip which is trackable by satellite so our every movement is known.
Please don't suggest it wouldn't happen without our knowledge or consent.

Within a generation everyone could have such a chip implanted without their knowledge anyway. For the last 50+ years injections have been almost compulsory for children. What did and do they contain? For those who avoided such abuse, do you really know what is in your dental fillings? Ever been anaesthetised? Ever had an internal examination?

It may already be happening.
That is not to say it is happening.
However, we have the tecnology now ...

Think about it ... think of the E.U. scenario and our politicians aiding and abetting of it - it is all about limitation and control. I don't think I'm scare-mongering, I think I am being realistic for it is a practical possibility and the ideal tool for those who seek to control us and limit our lives.

Yeah I know about that stuff. I ain't saying we don't have be on our toes all the time, making sure none of that stuff happens and if it does happen, reverse it. It will probably be a fight that goes on for all time.

All this terrorists must be locked up without a fair trial BS for instance is a battle we have to fight hard now. Same for ID cards. Same for car trackers for everyone.

Those are the real battles for me. Stopping people going to prison for unfair reasons.

What happens once people are there is kind of irrelevant, as if they are innocent, we have lost the battle already and need to fight to get them out. That's not to say we should fight to stop torture or inhumane treatment of prisoners!

Don't forget though, some deserve to be in there. Our goal is to make sure ALL of them DESERVE to be there.

Speeding? Prison? I doubt it. But how about a fine and a criminal record? You want that?

And you talk about people going to prison for "unfair reasons"?

T.V. licence? Here is Hansard on the subject:

"Mrs. Mahon (Halifax): A high percentage of women are in prison because they are fine defaulters or have not paid for a television licence. In 1993, 7.5 per cent., or 278 women, were imprisoned for the non-payment of television licence fees or fines related to that."

Oh yes, you can go to prison for not paying your TV licence.

I repeat: I am not the property of the state!

I do not want to ever get INTO phpbb_a situation whereby we need to "reverse it". By that point, I fear that it would result a Jefferson and Paine moment: "The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.".

Best,
Donna.

And there was me thinking our goal was to distance ourselves fromn the E.U.

I have no worries about folks being where they deserve to be.
We all end up with and where exactly what we deserve.
What better wish for anyone that they get exactly what they deserve?
If they think that is not enough then mebbe they could adapt their lives so they will be deserving of more ... they will still only get what they deserve though

There y'go - laws can be made against any behaviour and with Blair converted to the RCC and having a German Pope ... all things are possible.

As far as I am concerned all folks can do whatever they like in public so long as they don't impact negatively upon the lives of others.

Having a quick shag on a bench in the local high street hurts no-one, for instance. Some folks might complain but what have they to complain about really?

I mean, at any given moment there are millions of folks havin' a bit o' rumpy pumpy yet when they see others doing likewise some are horrified, saying things like "Disgusting" and "Shouldn't be allowed". Seems hypocritical to me.

Why is every thread turning INTO phpbb_a thread about gays?

WHY?
