they are going to introduce another bill, its to stop people having a go at other car drivers, you know the ones they drive Volvos, BMWs, Mercedes, Fords, and any other type you can think of.

I personally hate ferarris ( look I cant even spell it properly).

Anyone who reads a book and thinks it can control their lives is not all there anyway. (there is only one religion and I am a jedi Knight)

If the devil worshippers set up in your street and a group of blue rinse law abbiding pensioners were to start a petition to get rid of them they would become criminals.

I dont believe that people should go around causing annoyence to other people, but if you cant say anything about anything then where is the free speech?

Hands up who said they don't care. Freedom of speech is something we should all care about.

On radio today was an interesting debate between two gentlemen of indian descent, one of which OPPOSED the bill on the ground it would end up that more Muslims would fall foul of this law than any other group.

Looking at some leaflets in a rather seedy pizza/curry house near me, I don't think he was so wrong!

Default Bill of frights

What a stupid, unworkable law this bill would make. This country really is up shi'ite creek.

It could be argued that the koran actually incites religious hatred - so I'm going to enjoy seeing the result of legal action against it.

I hear that god has been sued before (i think) so i dont see why allah should get away with it.

Regards,
gareth.

P.s the sueing god thing might have been a movie, something to do with an act of God destroying a house.

Difficult to say. It was labelled a comedy, so I felt cheated (yes, I paid to see it). As I recall, it was just a bit silly and should have been a straight-to-TV movie.

From the Home Office FAQs http://www.homeoffice.gov.uk/comrace...crime/faq.html
Quote:
4. What would be caught by the new incitement offence?

Individuals and members of extremist and racist organisations and parties who stir up hatred of groups defined by their religious beliefs. Also, religious extremists who stir up hatred against members of other religions.
Both of these groups of extremists are very small in number and wholly unrepresentative of the communities they claim to speak for. The vast majority of British people, including British Muslims, are peaceful and law abiding and would not advocate hatred against people of other religions or races.
New Labour is targetting the BNP, but what exactly is an extremist and racist organisation and if an individual says something like "I cannot stand the behaviour of Muslims, it seems they have such a barbaric religion" and one Muslim says that this is full of hatred, who can determine which view is allowable? It seems that first New Labour has to determine what extremist and racist organisation actually is and also who is to determine what hatred means in a legal sense.
