Ali Dizaei is facing a retrial on charges of intending to pervert the course of justice and misconduct in a public office in July 2008.

I wonder what happened to allow a second trial.

Court of Appeal ordered a retrial after quashing the last one about a 9-12 months ago.

just looking at his face you can tell he's guilty, sadly this sort of thing happends daily throughout the police force, its good a high profile char like him is getting done, it would send a message to all crooked cops.

I bet if he weren't Iranian they would have not done anything, cops assault people all the time and nothing happens. I think they did not want a high ranking officer who is Iranian due to the current tensions. They rarely do their own, just normally close ranks.
Ah well, so much for "presumed innocent until proven guilty".
A leader of the 'National Black Police Association', well educated enough and apparently intelligent enough to be promoted to the position of Commander ought to realise that such a position is utterly absurd.
And anyone willing to be part of a selection board which is willing promote such a person ought to give equal weight to the equally absurd notion that there should be a candidate from the National White Police Association and any senior police officer willing to participate in such a selection board who considers either of the above statements during a job interview ought to be sacked. Not because they're black, not because they're white, but because they are either incredibly stupid, led by sickening PC thinking or politically motivated.
Not my most articulate post, but bloodly hell, how on earth do these people and their egos get put above and beyond logic and fairness?
