Thread: Luis Suarez ban + Fine OTT

As someone who doesn't believe that racism should be tolerated on a sports field,I found your comments interesting.I have played (Used to play semi-professional) against "black" players who have called me "honkey" "white meat" "white ****""honkey b*****d".I have to say it was a small, small percentage. It happened maybe 6 times over 15 years. At the end of the game they very often apologised and I accepted their apologies.Rightly or wrongly.Putting it down to the heat of the moment.I've also heard a lot of white players make racist comments on a pitch. It's an interesting one.

I think if the evidence was there against Suarez then the time is fitting to the crime.Maybe even lenient.

On the Terry situation.I'd love to know what Ferdinand said to him to provoke this "alleged" racial attack when the nearest Chelsea player to Terry was Ashley Cole.Who I believe is giving evidence for the defence?

What happens to Ferdinand if Terry is found innocent? His lies would have been provocative to say the least. Will the FA Investigate. Will Terry privately prosecute? I know I would.

Interesting scenarios all round but the one thing we probably all agree on is that ANY racism shouldn't be tolerated.

I do think that a lot of it is the stance that the FA has taken with UEFA. They have been highly critical of UEFA and their poor attempts at controlling racist chanting, banana throwing etc. And Joseph Blatter himself was recently embroiled in an argument, stemming from Britain (or rather we made all the fuss). The FA, therefore cannot just then turn around and brush this under the carpet; instead a strong message needs to be sent otherwise we will look ridiculous and two-faced.

John Terry is another matter, as this is the CPS getting involved. I imagine that they didn't want to get involved in the Suarez case because of the complications of him being mixed race (black grandfather). Black people call each other ****** the whole time - so when is that acceptable? Does a judge have to make a decision on what tone of black someone is? Would such a fuss be made if a black player called a white player "honkey"?

As an aside, it is interesting that "******" gets filtered out while "honkey" doesn't. Maybe it is acceptable for coloured people to racially denigrate white folk as honkeys, or maybe white folk aren't so touchy.

Luis Suarez put himself in this situation by trying to wind up Evra.

If Luis Suarez had kept his mouth shut and not said anything to annoy Evra then he wouldn't have been hit with this suspension, fine and his reputation wouldn't be currently lying in tatters.

Luis Suarez wasn't charged with being a racist or racial abuse, he was charged with offensive comments based on Evra's race, he was charged with his conduct. Negro does indeed mean "Black" in Spanish, the problem is the context in which it is was used. Suarez and Evra were clearly at each others throats like Cat and Dog and I don't believe that Suarez used the word 'Negro' in a friendly manner as he would do back home in Uruguay. Evra having been in English football for nigh on six years was able to capitalise on this and went ahead and put Luis Suarez to the sword.

However the Football Associations handling of this incident has been nothing short of disgraceful. The Independent Commission wasn't independent at all. The three members were Paul Golding, the Lawyer the Football Association used to get Wayne Rooney's suspension for assault changed from three matches to just two matches. Brian Jones an FA executive and Denis Smith, a manager and a friend of the Ferguson family.

The FA has taken one man's word over another and brought about a charge, the Football Association has also shown that it has a lack of respect for South American culture, has a lack of understanding of the Spanish language spoken in Uruguay and elsewhere in South America and has themselves come across as being racist and xenophobic towards Luis Suarez and his culture.

The Football Association decided to believe Evra based on him being more reliable as a witness. Patrice Evra is a disgusting human being, the worst type of racist there is. He will get his just deserts at some point in time as for Luis Suarez, he needs to realise that Britain is a deeply intolerant place and a deeply racist country and institutional racism exists everywhere and affects all races, he was naive and unfortunately is paying the price.

His club's handling of the situation has been poor, Comolli through a lack of knowledge on the Spanish language pretty much condemned Suarez to the sword, because the statements that Comolli and Kuyt produced differed from Luis Suarez's and were more in line with Evra's based on what Luis said to Evra. Liverpool Football Club is a joke of a football club and is paying the price of their own stupidity and if that Liverpool supporter who is alleged to have racially abused an Oldham footballer on Friday is found guilty of racial abuse, I hope he is permanently banned from Anfield and any other stadium in the country.

They call us Honkeys because it is the last sound they hear before being run over by a whitey. (Joke)

Race card pulling in Football,is a problem in recent times on the EU continent too.
Maybe there are to many black players these days, and the more there is the more the likelihood that they will use the race cars to try and get white players sent of or banned, hence lowering teams chances. I wonder how much is being caused be the seeping into the changing rooms influence of betting syndicates. If you cant get a white player to tackle you hard so you can do a theatrical dive and dying swan routine, then a quick tug on the race card does the trick.

Maybe the word Honky just isn't offensive enough. It seems it can be slang for a hooker's client with a car, or a patron of a rough bar or saloon, or (which I'd always thought) a Hungarian immigrant, and then broadened to mean any European....

I can promise you, there's a far more derogatory bit of slang for White people that uses their light complexions and red mouths to refer to them as a certain used feminine hygiene product.

Sperm-face is one way how some blacks call white people, which is just stupid; If anyone's sperm is the same colour as a so-called white person's face that person should go and see a doctor asap.
