No, the YP shouldn't be abolished. It helps younger folk get into politics, and provides an avenue for under 18's to be represented.

I say scrap the YP IF THE VOTING AGE WAS MADE 16

I would dispute that. From my personal experience I don't think that many people are actually that interested in it as much as you make out. When you say "get into politics", this smells of being trained up as a career politician which is what this country could do without.

Seemingly so, when MSYP won't answer questions they find a little tricky, and go running to the adults who are in charge of their popmpous, yet patronising, waste of time and money.

I will take no notice of your point as it is factually incorrect, the Scottish Youth Parliament is entirely youth lead with its Members (MSYPs) forming the board of trustees.

Anyone who is not a Member of the Scottish Youth Parliament but work for the Parliament are hired by Members of the Scottish Youth Parliament and can be sacked or made redundant by Members of the Scottish Youth Parliament. I made use of the staff that we as MSYPs employ.

That's a very good reason why this so-called Youth Parliament is a sham. Who votes for your advisors?

Maybe so. But it still doesn't show that you can answer your own questions, posited by people who pay for your existence. the fact that the grown-ups couldn't, either, shows that maybe they also believe the money for the Malawi junket (and the money for the Malawian counterpart) could pent in a more beneficial way for Malawians.

Cop-out. It is this sort of attitude that led MPs to cane expenses. They saw themeselves as unanswerable. As do you are your talking shop members.
