An Ipsos Mori opinion poll in today's Observer puts the Cameron-Conservatives on a projected 37% share of the vote - four points more than the actual Conservative share of the vote at the last General Election. Labour have a forecast 31% share in the new opinion poll with the europhile Liberal 'Democrats' trailing on 17% - lower than the level of support they secured in 2005.

For some time many political analysts have been saying that the Cameron-Conservatives will struggle to win a majority at the next General Election for the national election swing required to do so would be the largest to the Conservatives in the modern era.

David Cameron promoted europhile Kenneth Clarke MP earlier this year.
