I think this one is worth signing as well it is part of the same issue:-

Make it a criminal offence to maliciously report someone for benefit fraud. - e-petitions

Make it a criminal offence to maliciously report someone for benefit fraud.

Responsible department: Department for Work and Pensions
Given the success rate of the "shop a benefit fraud" hotline is only 0.31%, a large number of people are being maliciously accused of benefit fraud. Such malicious people should be subject the criminal law similar to wasting police time.

That petition has a thread all of it's own.

I have to admit to being disappointed at the low response thus far. I suspect it is because people who have been falsely reported are terrified of signing it.

At least we have tried to bring attention to it, it has 12 signatures currently and it has ONLY BEEN A FEW DAYS!!!

The closing date for the petition isn't until the 15 November of next year.

Not everything is going to have a successful result but think about in a different way.

You don't know what the result is going to be unless you try your best, 12 signatures is better than zero signatures and indications of zero interest of the cause the petition is created for.

I know it's hard that there aren't a mass of signatures but it takes time.

How many places has this petition be put on to get attention?

I have put it on here and on my Facebook, and it is also on the other forum which I first saw it.

Maybe it isn't on enough different places to increase the amount of attention it could receive...

I have posted it in forums where I know literally hundreds of people have been maliciously and falsely accused of fraud.

Especially if they have encountered people are like the person I have quoted, who believe that all the propaganda in the media is true.
