They will cost far more too.
There are currently 645 MPs and only 87 UK MEPs.

Once we phase out all the MPs we will have 558 less politicians. Even if we have to pay the remainding ones slightly more we will still save a heck of a lot of money. And we won't have to pay for the exorbitant running costs of the House of Commons and the House of Lords.

    They are over 700 MEP's.
Hence why they cost more than our MP's.

Are you thick? There are over 700 MEPs throughout Europe not in the UK. The UK only has 87. The only reason they cost more is because we have the ludicrous system of MPs and MEPs running side by side.

The way to save money is to abolish the post of MP leaving us with 87 elected politicians.

    You are obviously thick.
Who do you think pays for Spains MEP's, or the Eastern European MEP's, Portugals MEP's etc?

Which is more expensive: The salaries of 700 MEPs plus all the salaries of the MPs and their continental equivalents, or the salaries of 700 MEPs on their own?

The salaries of British MP's on their own are cheaper than both your options above.

Wrong! The British do not exclusively pay the wages for all the MEPs. Germany contributes as much if not more than the British. That's before factoring in the contributions of the other member states too.

True, but my beloved EU is here to stay. I am simply trying to make it as efficient as possible.

The UK's net contribution to the EU last year was £4.7 billion.
That is quite some saving if we leave.
