I don't think actually its a case of trying to fool anybody, but doing merely what all political parties do and that is over exaggerate their strength and representation. People on here are unlike most of the general public in that they are all keen students of the contemporary political scene and thus are very aware of this.
Spencer: Its Monday morning, cold, wet and miserable and the economy is going t**s up and my pension fund is rapidly diminishing. Then I read your posts.
I think your posts should carry a health warning because anyone reading them will find it increasingly hard to go on living!![]()
Don't blame me I'm just the messenger and I am delivering the message because you need to know the facts and not some rose tinted spin (at best) from Welshpool if you want to actually achieve something.
As for the economy, rejoice. That is globalization falling to bits out there and when it is gone most of the evils of the modern world will be horrors of the past. Of course we might have some new problems to deal with and they may be quite intractable and painful however at least they will be novel and could well be literally lethal for the traitor Establishment. Every-time I see a lamppost I smile these days.
Things fall apart; the centre cannot hold
I can tell you one thing. I certainly avail myself of a wide variety of opinions both about the British National Party and the wider world of politics beyond that of the Weshpool missives.![]()
What's left of the SDP have five councillors (The Social Democratic Party - History) if that is worth noting.
LibLabCon do not claim that town and parish councillors are equivalent to their other councillors.
The 2007 and 2008 statements by UKIP on ukip.org after the local elections do not claim any equalisation between town/parish councillors and councillors at a higher level.
I conclude therefore that it is the "general public" your party are trying to fool. Thanks.
It appears I might well have been very wrong.
UKIP rejects BNP's electoral pact | UK | Reuters
Congrats to BNP. Reuters, please question why Michael Holden has made this as written strictly accurate but as implied grossly inaccurate statement. Reuters may not give a damn about accuracy but the name Michael Holden is not a name I will forget any time soon. I won't be surprised if it crops up again another time BNP is referred to.the BNP has won more than 100 local council seats around the country.

Thanks to everyone for the helpful postings. I've added the Social Democrats as suggested by HM. I've adjusted the BNP figure down to 40 confirmed - though I'm noting that they may have a few more councillors out there somewhere and I'll revise the figure upwards as info becomes available. GreenerWorld has kindly sent me the complete numbers for the Green Party and I'll add extra columns to the table soon for the London Assembly, Scottish Parliament and Welsh Assembly.
Tom: There are 2 councillors in Coventry for The Socialist Party. One is Dave Nellist (ex-Labour MP). This is a marxist left wing party and nothing to do with the Left List or Galloway's lot.
Thanks for that. I wasn't certain at first whether you meant the Socialist Party of Great Britain or the Socialist Party of England and Wales, which also apparently trades under the monniker "Socialist Alternative". Wikipedia makes clear that the two in Coventry are part of the latter bunch. It claims they have five councillors all told, but then says that one member elected as a councillor in Huddersfield sits under another party description ("Save Huddersfield NHS"). Therefore to be consistent with the rule applied to other parties, I'll put them in the table as having four councillors.
Socialist Party (England and Wales) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
(p.s. Two of their four councillors were previously listed on the table as "Socialist Alliance" but apparently the Alliance is no more due to various associated groups breaking away, so Socialist Alternative is the new description.)
