Currently a student in my final year at UCLan studing Politics and working on my dissertation! I'm looking at Britain's electoral system and whether there is need for reform. Focusing on the 2011 Referendum as a case study at the moment, and whether the mechanisms for political participation are still effective in Britain today!
It would be a huge help, if you could all fill out my online self-completion questionnaire. It's very quick and simple. Will take 2 mins out of your time & will benefit me greatly.

Thank you ever so much!

Refused to complete. This seems to be a multi-part tag question. The tag being AV.
The subterfuge of the survey in tagging ‘reform’ with AV, and the refusal to allow for the possibility of any other reform, seems an indication that the compiler(s) of the survey would fit in well with the present incumbents in the HOC. The justification for this constraint on respondent’s focus, “as a case study”, doesn’t wash, in my view.
Another indication is that Q8 refuses to employ the vital modifier, ‘impartial’.
In fact looking at the questions, I have a sneaky suspicion that the survey may eventually conclude that the British electorate didn’t understand what they were voting on in the recent referendum. And we would be supposed to accept that that of course explains their, otherwise inexplicable, rejection of AV.

I think the survey is badly composed and phrased but I don't think it's deliberately biased.Question 10 "Do you believe there is serious need for reform in Britain's electoral system?" can't be combined with any other question except in a general way. i.e The fact that say 30% of those knowledgable about AV may think that there is serious need for reform doesn't mean to say they want to reform it to AV.
In my opinion question 9 should be before questions 6 and 7. Question 6 should read "What other electoral voting systems have you heard of? " And 7 should read " Can you state briefly what you know about those voting systems? "
And then perhaps a final question "If the voting system were to be reformed, which system would you prefer to replace the present one?"
But basically if the idea is simply to find out whether people want electoral reform or not,one question would have been sufficient.
