Default The Sun: Cut The EU Off

Another excellent EU article from The Sun, 9 June 2008

Quote:
MPs at Westminister are having enough trouble with dodgy deals that milk the system. But London has nothing on Brussels, where the gravy train has been running decades longer than the Eurostar.
The leader of the Tory MEPs and his party's Chief Whip have both quit while investigations are held into payments made to family members and firms. Money that runs into hundreds of thousands.

One MEP claimed £2,500 for a fact-finding mission to America that just happened to coincide with his son's wedding, while yet another creamed off as much as £1million to pay staff in his own firm. Altogether five Tory MEPs are under the microscope.
And it is worth remembering, as you face rocketing petrol and food bills, that this is YOUR money they are splashing around.

The tragedy is that the British MEPs are accepted to be among the least corrupt in Brussels. No accountant has been willing to give Europe's finances a clean bill of health for more than a decade.
It is time the British government took a lead and cut off funds to the European Parliament.

As it seems the only thing that talks in Brussels is money.
