"Bob Spink MP resigned as Chairman of the CIB last night ,having completed his year in post .
During that time he has also chaired the Pro- Referendum Rally group, taken an active part in the E.U Constitutional debates in Parliament and tabled a large number of Parliamentary questions on the EU and related matters. He has now decided to move on and to give his full attention to supporting UKIP. He is their only MP. The CIB's committee is very sad to see Bob leave , it is extremely grateful to him for all of his hard work ,enthusiasm and leadership as its Chairman over the past year ." Sad ,but there it is .Bob will certainly have his hands full with UKIP's business .I wish him well. |

I don't want to be pedantic, Petrina, but I would have thought he "stood down" rather than "resigned". I came to this thread in a mild sense of shock thinking he'd suddenly left something or other. I see that he hasn't. If he completed a term of office but was eligible for a further term, then it was a matter of standing down. If he was not eligible for a further period of office, then he did neither.
