Default Mass lobby of Parliament Wednesday 27 February

"Let the People Decide" - Mass lobby of Parliament Wednesday 27 February

Dear Supporter,

The I Want a Referendum campaign can confirm that a mass lobby of Parliament in favour of a referendum on the Lisbon Treaty will be taking place on Wednesday 27 February from 11am until 6pm.

Within around a week of the lobby, MPs will be voting in Parliament on whether or not there should be a national referendum on the Treaty - don't miss your chance to persuade them to vote 'yes'.

Anyone can lobby their MP - you do not have to be an expert. You just need to be willing to ask your MP a few questions, and to tell them why you think there should be a referendum on the Lisbon Treaty.

If you would like to take part in the lobby, please let us know by emailing lobby@iwantareferendum.com - telling us your postcode and where you will be coming from.

Details of how the lobby will be organised, and what to do on the day will be sent to you in due course. We will also be sending out a brief guide to lobbying your MP, including some suggested questions. Posters and banners will be provided on the day.

Supporters are also invited to gather in the William Sangster Room, Central Hall Westminster, Storey's Gate, London SW1H 9NH, any time throughout the day from 11am until 7pm, where some of the campaign's leading MPs and supporters will be making speeches. Central Hall is just a few minutes walk from Parliament (click here for a map and directions), and has a café where you can buy refreshments.

Can you help organise transport to London?

If you plan to come to the lobby and are thinking of organising transport for additional people, please email lorraine@iwantareferendum.com to let us know and we can try to let other people in your area know. It's a fantastic help in getting as many people to the lobby as possible.

Please encourage your friends and family to join us in what will be a fun day campaigning on this very important issue for Britain. We need thousands of people to come to Westminster and make this a success. Remember to tell them they can visit I want a referendum for more information about the campaign.

Many thanks for your support. We cannot win without it.

The assumption seems to bethat M.P.s do not know what is happenig. They are the ones pushing this. The other point is that someof us have been so insulted by users of this forum that wewould never support UKIP or the EDP in any circumstances. You want to take a good look at yourselves before asking for support.

You've got it all around yer neck as per usual!

The point is to let MPs know the strength of feeling about this issue, just as dopey Rowan Williams has been left in no doubt about the strength of feeling against his suggestion that there should be greater theocracy.

As far as I am concerned, neither the EDP nor UKIP nor any other anti-EU party is asking for support for themselves but for the UK. Regrettably, it seems you are much too touchy to lend support to that! Any feeble excuse.

Methinks you are what Nye Bevan once referred to as an emotional spasm! Pity you don't go and b*tch elsewhere, instead of making unhelpful and irrelevant comments here.

I agree with you entirely, of course. If people want solidarity of purpose they must at the very least be able to be civil to one another in general terms. This is where the problems will come in. The parties that can agree to differ on some things but agree to clasp hands and raise those hands together on others will form that longed for alliance that will lead to that longed for result. Brothers in arms do not stab one another in the back nor kick one another under the table. If that isn't firmly in view nothing will happen, or these solidarity ventures will ultimately turn into self-seeking opportunities instead and be shredded by the opposition.

Thought I`d give some feed back.
The lobby was well attended .Difficult to say how many attended but far greater numbers than attended the previous rally .The queue stretched back a long way and more people were added to it on a regular basis as per the pictures on another thread .Could have been over a thousand .
The Methodist Hall was full up,couldn`t get in ,waited for about 20 minutes to no avail .It would be interesting to hear from someone who did get in .
Lots of ukkippers and lots of Tories ,including some of their candidates for the GE and European Election .Organisation not bad ,lots of banners and balloons.
Crowd good natured as one would expect .
Passing traffic hooted regularly, thumbs up etc in agreement with banners-esp.taxis and lorry drivers .

Press were more interested in the roof top demo at Parliament .Lots of camera s, all trained on the roof of Parl.As one said to me -if you lot did something like that our bosses would tell us to cover it .
Police very polite and helpful.

I was interviewed by a TV unit who put their work on the internet ,but didn`t see anyone interviewed by outside cameras for BBC or ITV -pity .

Very little mention on News -only Channnel 4 so far as I`ve seen ,and then just a brief mention .

Yet if 6 people turned up on a global warmign protest, they would have it on the main news over and over again.

Just like in America where Ron Paul was frozen out as much as they could and the massive rallys he draws ignored, the same happens here.

But there is no media conspiracy, oh no.

Default Make a complaint

I`ve just had a look at the BBC website ,not one mention of today`s mass lobby I have rung this number-087000 100 222- to complain that this item has not been covered .Why not give it a ring too ?

Otherwise they will get away with deliberate bias against reporting anything to do with the EU yet again. When one sees some of the twaddle that they do report .........

The young lady who took my call said she would pass my message onto the news team .Who knows she might actually do it .If the BBC fails to mention this
lobby then we should write and complain ,I will get onto the organisers and see if we can organise a mass complaint !

Just seen BBC ten o`clock news-delayed by some football match - ,about five minutes on the referendum in Harlow and the lobby and the remarks in Parl. re it by Cameron and the pathetic reply from Brown-you know the usual lies about this not being a constitution only an amending treaty which hardly amounts to a hill of beans .

So why no mention on the six o`clock news ? Answer -too many people might have seen it . Well done Brussels Broadcasting Corp. your masters will be very pleased with you .
