Default New Norfolk Group

Hi: I'm Johnny, the Norfolk Co-ordinator for the Campaign for Independent Britain (CIB).

I have just started a new message board site, with the intention of using it to bring together Eurosceptics in Norfolk, and to co-ordinate events for 2007.

It is open to anyone who is opposed to the EU. We seek to support the Campaign for Independent Britain, UKIP, the Democracy Movement, the NO2ID Cards Campaign, the Freedom Association, the Labour Euro Safeguards Campaign, the English Democrats, and all other non-racist, eurosceptic organisations who oppose the EU in a constructive and sensible manner.

If you are from Norfolk, and would like to join, then please follow the link below, and let's help put Norfolk "on the map"!

Hello JohnnyNorfolk

I am originally from Norfolk, though no longer live there, and I wish you every success with your message board site. I am pleased to see someone from no2id has already joined at this early stage and hope that many of the tens of thousands of other eu-realists in Norfolk will join up as well. I have not joined because I don't live in Norfolk but if I have anything really positive to contribute will be happy to do so.

The key event of 2007 for Euro-Sceptics is the local elections which are taking place in all the Norfolk District Councils as well as the regular 1/3 election for Norwich City Council. Personally I want to see a full UKIP slate in every single Norfolk Council seat including Norwich but that might be wishful thinking. If your message board leads to one more eu-realist candidate than would otherwise have occurred that is worthwhile enough for me.

I truly hope Norfolk UKIP has got the message that we usually do better at local elections than at general elections and will contest as many seats as possible.

Default Priority for UKIP should be to help defeat C. Clarke

A key aim of UKIP in Norfolk should be to help defeat at the next General Election the unpleasant Charles Clarke (sacked as Home Secretary after poor local election results for Labour in May of this year) who is one of the Labour MPs at Norwich  .

He (Charles Clarke) was the most europhile member of the Blair Lie-bour Cabinet after Mandelson and was (and is) the keenest supporter of getting rid of our ancient Pound and replacing it with the Franco-German euro.

The Norwich seat held by Charles Clarke is not safe Labour - even if it has a fairly large Labour majority at present. It is potentially highly marginal and Clarke could (hopefully) lose if enough eurosceptic and anti-EU Labour voters go to UKIP in the constituency he presently holds.

As one of the most pro-EU and pro-euro members of the Labour Party Charles Clarke must be the priority target for UKIP to get him out of the House of Commons.

He is a nasty piece of work.

Britannist,

I agree with your analysis of Clarke, particularly for his arrogance and buffoonery over the failed "incitement to religious hatred" legislation.

The Lib dems are now the challegers in Norwich South so a defeat for Clarke would probably lead to one europhile being replaced by another, but I'd still welcome it.

Mind you, he has his uses: his outbursts against the government are now not just entertaining but hopefully are adding to the damage that is being done.

Thank you for your agreement Deep Purple. I think Charles Clarke is an unpleasant man with unpleasant europhile views. I hope he loses his seat in Parliament.
