    Default Bits'n'Bobs

The English Independence Party has been declared dead and moved to the dead parties section.

The English Affairs section has been moved to become a subforum of the 'British Government' section.

We are also considering created a few 'core topic' threads which would be protected from trolling and other off-topic messages. The idea would be encourage a higher level of debate for certain topics. Obviously members will still be free to create other threads to discuss any topic that they like. I would like to know your thoughts on this.

The two main political topics in the UK over the next several years are:

    1. How to cut the deficit without crippling the economy; and
    2. Whether the Scottish government under SNP majority control succeed in breaking the Union.

To place all the issues around English and Scottish independence under a general heading of 'English Affairs' as a sub-forum of 'British Government' seems to me to be treating the probable/possible end of the UK as some sort of minor issue.

It is your forum, Tony, to do with as you please, but I have to ask please if you are treating the Devolution/Independence issues with the priority they deserve?

Yes, a Campaign for English Independence could draw a large crowd to this site so can we request that it have a place where it can be seen, away from party politics and petty bickering? This Campaign is going to become quite large and draw in support from every nook and cranny of the country so a dedicated Section or area on here would be of great benefit to the cause of English Independence.

How do you propose achieving that? Pre-moderation, discussions only open to pre-approved posters, by invitation only threads, or priority policing by the moderators on duty?
Promote Cash, Davis, Raab, Reckless, Hollobone, Bone, Carswell, Dorries, Baron, Nuttall & Rosindell to the front bench.

I add my support to any move to much tougher moderation in the English sections. We English should be able to discuss serious political issues without incessant sniping.

I'll second that emotion OC, although it'll be a lot easier said than done.

We are currently looking into this and that is why we have asked for people's thoughts. The most likely scenario is priority moderating and zero tolerance of any off topic posts.

I agree that there should be stricter moderation but why move the English Affairs section?

If anything the move to a sub-forum under British Government is more visible, depending on how you use the forum. Also it is logically the right place - English Affairs aren't a "Smaller Party" which is where the section used to be.
