A point to note is that if I give a point to a good posting and that poster then makes a great additional posting it is not acceptable to give that poster another point until I have given points to other posters, this seems to cancel out the efforts to reward good posts.

The theory is that other posters will also credit the good postings. The inability to give reputation points to the same person continuously is to stop point spamming by small groups.

I understand, however on several occasions good posts could not be rewarded by me because of what I said earlier.

Those two posters who would have benefited have each lost two points.

Thats not good is it.

So, in order to do as I wanted, I would have to Donate a point to some other poster first,by which time, I've already forgotten about the point I was going to award earlier for a very good post,IMHO.

I get the idea behind it, but having to spread the love around to 20 people is a little excessive for a forum this size, no? I mean, are there actually 20 people who talk sense in here? Maybe lower it to 10?

Most of the reputation scores so far have been positive, so it looks like it should work in the long term. Pretty much all of the negative reputation is for abuse or stupid answers.
