Default Changing forum software

Over the next 24 hours the forum may become unuseable or very slow, because I am attempting to import the entire database of 200,000 posts into new software to run the forum. You may lose any new posts made during this time until the new forum is operational.

The new software (vBulletin) will provide a far stronger system, with much more functionality for both users and moderators.

This new software isn't free, so I will be looking to bring in some ways to recoup some of the costs, such as an Amazon affiliate book shop and similar projects. These won't impact the forum, and won't cost you a penny unless you are happy to assist by buying through the forum

It will take a while to get used to, but the software will enable us to do a lot more.

Has it got a feature for direct youtube links?

<object width="425" height="350"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/30DcAy-flNU"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/30DcAy-flNU" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="425" height="350"></embed></object>

Wink

Sorry to be a little negative, but I did prefer the old layout - particularly the 3 quick search options that allowed ypou go immeditaly to threads you had posted in....for example.
If we can have something like that on the front page, without having to go through the search/quick link optoions, that would keep me quiet...
I've found in other forums that use this software that the search is not as good as the Democracy forum, and the ability to store preset searches doesn't work... unless I'm doing things totally wrong.

Be nice to have some updates on the new features to fully understand them...
