The first satellite dishes for TV were a couple of yards across and cost £1500, or some such sum, in 1988/9 (?) - a neighbour had one in his garden. Once 5000 were sold the price plummeted as they became more affordable. This might be the same. The real technological enthusiasts will 'rush' out and buy one. If they become economically viable, like the clockwork radio, then they will sell. If a small subsidy is required they might sell. If they remain ludicrously expensive then no-one will have one.

I want investment in new technologies that will reduce the demand for fossil fuels (if only because we have to increasingly buy them from overseas), but they have have to be popular and viable. Windmills are at present, IMHO, a non-starter because of the environmental damage they cause in making them, but I think planning authorities should insist on solar cells as they recover their cost in a fraction of the lifetime of a house.

Computers used to be the size of a house, but I sit typing on my laptop which is more powerful than all of the computers in the world in the 1950s combined.

You never know Matt, you might have persuaded the one person that will make this product viable in the future to get involved. Well done. Keep up the good work
