In that case, what we may see is at least the partial disappearance of the traditional notion of a politically-disinterested civil service.
For never fear - Richard Barnbrook will find no shortage of willing & able volunteers and supporters to assist him at the GLA. Indeed, he is quite entitled to appoint such people to assist him.
From a BNP point of view, we have not worked this hard to get him elected merely to see his appointment founder upon lack of co-operation by politically-motivated ethnic support staff at the GLA.
(For goodness sake, that building even has a Muslim prayer room installed in its basement!)
However - more generally - as we begin to lose the notion of widespread consensus in an increasingly divided society (which has been brought about by massive levels of immigration never consented to by the wide majority), parties like the BNP may obtain more & power, yet without ever joining - or even expecting to join - the 'club'.
When I lived in Brazil, I discovered that politicians there always brought along with them pretty much 100% of their own adminstrative 'help'.
So when they were voted out, all their secretaries were fired along with them. This process may become more the norm here as well.
