Not our time, their time. Our time is different, not so innocent, and actually rather nasty.
As regards the use of such terms, for those today who are capable of joined up thinking I agree, but as with common sense in people, the ability to employ joined up thinking is a rare thing indeed in most.
Not only that, but it opens a door for the knuckle draggers to sneak in their racist venom using the “Only Joking” excuse when challenged and then quoting such things as proof and support of their faux claims and nastiness.
Recently (like this AM and on another subject) I’ve been accused of being Politically Correct.
The irony is that I’m probably one of the least PC people around, but what I am sensitive to is the PC mindset having been on the wrong end of it more than once as well as the way that evil people will use every opportunity to spread their venom.
Material such as we are dealing with here from more innocent days, when the racists were more brazen and not so snide, is dangerous in the extreme precisely because the racist filth can hide behind it and use it as an excuse for their own ends.
That is why it should not be used just as the name of the dog in the film The Dam Busters had to be censored. Not just because it is now an offensive word but because allowing it to go unchecked will be taken advantage of by the racial supremacists.
