There have been 'Scottish' and 'Wales' components of the TUC, the Labour and Conservative parties for decades! England as such has NEVER been separately represented.
It is the devolution introduced in 1997 without any English involvement which has made those in England increasingly conscious of this anomaly, this difference in treatment. Even so, had this Scottish-flavoured British Government ensured that people in England would be treated no less favourably, the constitutional differences would have been as unimportant as they have been for decades in non-government bodies.
The failure of the Conservative Party and UKIP to comprehend the true nature of what has happened needs proper explanation. Is it due to incomprehension and incompetence, or something more sinister?
