Modern European are largely a mixture of mid eastern and Near East agricultural migrants with earlier hunting gather inhabitants, while receiving influence from other regions. In northern Europe the gene flow was largely from SE Europe and Asia. The population of Europe were hunter-gatherers until the advent of agriculture about eight millennia ago.
Human is a mobile creature and subjected to environmental influence as well as elements of luck. The population distribution and their genetic distribution across the world has never been the same for the past tens of thousands of years.
