One Conservative was right to point out that this is the first time the party has ever gone into an election promoting taxes. Shortly after that their healthy lead over Labour was more than halved and Cameron pulled back. He still rides a bicycle and has his shoes delivered in an official state provided car following him though. It seems his popularity hinges these days on how anti-EU he says he is. During the referendum business he pretended to be anti-EU and his lead went right up again.
