You assume that I would have wanted to join such a "club". You also assume that I would have wanted to asociate with people who did.

The Empire was a thing of its time. It would be wrong to praise or condemn it using the values of today as a baseline.
That egalitarianism saw it off simply shows how much better our social values are today than they were when the colonisations were taking place and the Empires were being established.
Anything based on the ludicrous notion that people are in some way fundamentally unequal as people, and should be treated as such is obscene.
