If you abolish science then that would be a greater nightmare than Hollywood has ever invented. Even walking over a bridge could mean falling into the river. Everything we have around us is governed by scientific principles and mathematics and the horror is we can't take it for granted it will continue like that. They used to teach calculus in maths O levels but now engineering students are being made to take catch-up maths courses before starting their degree. The universities simply can't teach a degree in engineering without the students first understanding how to do the equations. As they arrive they are simply not fit to do that.
Global warming involves a lot of scientific principles and I'm glad to see ordinary folk learning the ropes. I think this goes far beyond just job abilities, I think with the population educated on media studies the politicians can get away with virtually any scam. Now people have an incentive to learn about science. I see it more and more on forums and the level of scientific understanding is increasing at long last.
