Our green council was spotted chopping down trees in our park because they were apparently the kind of tree that insurance companies think are prone to branches falling off. It wasn't an old tree or anything like that I saw them chopping down, it was perfectly healthy as was the huge horse chestnut one that used to be opposite the Abbey near the town centre.
Not only that but they employ some stupid woman as a solicitor who is too weak to take on the developers and warns the rest of the council that should she loose the case, which she advised them as quite likely, then the council would have to foot an £80 000 legal bill. The result is developer's walk all over our green council. The latest is 400 matchbox size squats being built. They bribed the council £1 million for that. So don't make out that they are really environmentally conscious, they are more than useless.
Take a look around any area in Blighty and you will see the same deal or worse. Don't believe a word of it regarding being concerned about the environment, they are in fact turning it into concrete and ripping us all off for it.
