I should add that there was nothing in the Conservative 1970 General Election Manifesto about joining the EEC/EU and Enoch Powell went on to more-or-less urge people to vote Labour in the February 1974 General Election as a way of removing europhile Heath as Prime Minister (which, of course, the voters thankfully did although it meant pro-EU Wilson got back in instead but not with the huge Parliamentary majority in which Heath had tried to force the UK into accepting EU 'integration' against its will).

Enoch should have joined and stood for the National Front.
If he had I have no doubt it would have got MP's elected and now would be a serious force.
