General Election, party, broadcast, Enoch Powell, Labour, Heath, Prime Minister
He even went on television about three days before the 1970 General Election to urge people (in a party political broadcast) to vote for the Heathite Conservative Party (led by a man who had sacked him from the Shadow Cabinet two years before).
I should add that there was nothing in the Conservative 1970 General Election Manifesto about joining the EEC/EU and Enoch Powell went on to more-or-less urge people to vote Labour in the February 1974 General Election as a way of removing europhile Heath as Prime Minister (which, of course, the voters thankfully did although it meant pro-EU Wilson got back in instead but not with the huge Parliamentary majority in which Heath had tried to force the UK into accepting EU 'integration' against its will).
