I have read that communist China (in its search for various metals for industrial production) has been building up trading links with a number of African nations - particularly Zimbabwe. China, of course, has a veto on the United Nations Security Council which it could use to stop the UN criticising the tyrant Mugabe and his supporters.

Yes China has been proping up Mugabe for some considerable time, one unsavoury regime looking after another I feel.
