The African Union come out of this very badly. It is clear that they cannot bear to part with Mugabe because of his anti-colonialist credentials. Mugabe is a vicious racist, not just towards whites, but also towards blacks of other tribes. He is responsible for the killing and rape of more blacks in Zimbabwe that the whites ever were, yet he is still able to continue with the support of South Africa.
What I can't understand is how South Africa's leaders cannot see that the only people now suffering in the Zimbabwe crisis are the overwhelming black majority who have either fled or live in poverty. Perhaps they expect one day to be in the same boat as Mugabe and don't want to set a precedent.
How sad that life expectancy in Mugabe's Zimbabwe is 11 years less than life expectancy in this country in 1900?
