Peter Longworth, former High Commissioner, Zimbabwe, Mugabe, African, Gordon Brown
Peter Longworth, former High Commissioner to Zimbabwe, just said (at 5.17 pm) on Sky News "He (Mbeki, South African President) has no choice to say this (that there is no crisis in Zimbabwe) - if there is no crisis why is it taking two weeks to count 6 million votes." Mr. Longworth said "It is because the result (of the recent elections) is so disastrous (for Mugabe) that they do not know how to manage it."
Mr. Longworth said that other African leaders "can't let this great hole in their region called Zimbabwe (which Mugabe has created) carry on if they want to attract investment to their nations."
Robert Mugabe described Gordon Brown as "a tiny dot on the world stage" Sky Television News reported at 5.18 pm today.
