Clive Page: It was most wise for the NEC to require enhanced CRB clearance for all prospective Euro-election candidates; they should be complimented by all for their decision. Presumably candidates will also be required to submit their birth certificates, in view of of embarrassing identity deceptions which have been perpetrated against the Party in the past.
It is only fair that members who attended the Bar Hill conference should not be disciplined. Those who are passionately against the Lisbon Treaty were all at Loxton. As a social profile, we can assume attendees at Bar Hill were those who don't like horse racing and couldn't care less who won the Grand National; those who are definitely not Portsmouth football supporters and the rest either wanted an excuse not to go shopping, or had just had a row with the wife. As they were all motivated by apolitical reasons, they would have no case to answer. Another courageous decision by our NEC.
