BD, Armagh is the Church of Ireland equivalent of Canterbury and the Bishop is head of that church. There is also a RC cathedral. The area is mixed with both Protestants and Catholics although the latter are in a majority in much of the county.
The Observatory should not be a religious issue; scientific research goes beyond that.
