I think Brown is a genuine old style socialist, but out of time. I think he would have made a great Labour politician in the late fifties. It's what his kind of person was made for. He just came to the party too late and the Mad Hatter and the March Hare have spoiled all the goodies and upset the timing for the great big lefty comeback.
