This is also going to make travelling around the Country by coach nothing short of pointless. The train journey out of the Westcountry is awful, it looks like the bus journey is about to be a lot worse.
This has put me right off using public transport, I expect I'll just use the car in future.

This will teach me for commenting before researching further.
Apparently the regs only require vehicles that will travel more than 30 miles to have a tachograph, and the services are being split up to avoid having to pay for them (£1000 each, £500PA to maintain).
Obviously this is a very painful cost for local bus companies, and as such I still intend to raise the issue with my MP.
