All I used was my google mail and yahoo mail account and posted on a couple of forums, I noticed it was the debating forums that took up too much of my life.
Now though, with the University subjects I am doing I simply have to use the net more than I would like. I have links upon links to read regarding education and history, I now have a separate e-mail A/C for uni which I have to check daily, I have a studyzone site which has to be checked daily and of course the computer has to be used to type up essays.
Anyway, I know this is going slightly off topic but this problem is something I can include in an essay regarding 21st century education. As far as I can see, the debate against home schooling on the net is that children may not do it, or may get somebody else to do it. I am going to include the health hazards of addiction to the net.
Do you see what I mean, I made a cup of tea at 08:55 this morning, I am still drinking it (suprisingly it is still warm) and it is now 09:21.

Thanks Cleopatra,
I do believe that the internet can be addictive too, and there is a lot of information out there available to wade through.
But wouldn't you prefer to have that information available than to have it taken away from you because someone claims you can't use it responsibly ?
I think you understand my point.
Glad you haven't taken it personally because that was not my point or intention at all.
Despite Frith's attempts to label me as "sh*tty" and label the information I posted as cr*p(without posting any information of her own regarding the subject) I am glad to see you can follow the common sense line of reasoning.
It's re-assuring to know we haven't all been brainwashed by the evil-doers that would want you to believe otherwise.
Be very careful with trusting or believing Frith - she is attempting to appear as a wonderful culture loving individual but depite her talking up the internet on this post elsewhere she is alluding to the internet to be banned, apparently because I don't agree with her !
Hi!
Frith:
"The net is, in my view, a terrific way to reach a large number of people[not "everyone"] through good[notice not "all"] teachers because so many can tune in at once and this can spread standards of excellence across a broad spectrum"
"I used to think the internet was a great invention and a useful tool for communication. I am beginning to think it may be more of a curse, if not an actual threat."
So much for the internet - "motivates self-expression and independent thinking" !
Please do elaborate Frith ! (without metaphors ?

)
And apparently a primary school child should be able to understand her posts, but she cannot understand that my point of view on this thread was not a personal attack, but a genuine concern about "net neutrality"
A bit odd ?!
Yes, she's all for culture but wants liberty to be supressed and so called "conspiracy theorists" to be eliminated too, because she feels somehow "threatened" by freedom of speech and the
"first victims will be those who love truth"(see below link)
Trying to label anyone who she places into the bracket of "conspiracy theorist" as dangerous or a "threat", she is no more than a very sad low level propaganda merchant and confidence trickster, riding on the back of fake self-styled beauty.
Her only defence is to claim I am going around this site calling people nutjobs, when she is the first to impose unsubstantiated labels onto "truth seekers" into the fray, not to mention disgusting and thinly disguised
pro-violent rhetoric.
Poor innocent lamb - what have we done ?
You would almost think everything she really stands for is straight out the New Labour handbook of "freedom".
If you read the subtle thorns in her posts, you may reach the conclusion she wants nothing more than to pretend to be your friend simply to stop your ability to think for yourself, and for you to despise people like me who truly have yours and everyones best interests at heart.
(I'm not sure about Frith though

)
Just a friendly word of warning because those of us who are pro-liberty actually
do get off our backsides and condemn those trying to take liberty away from us.
(as opposed to those who spout dreary nothingness about loss of culture that they never actually try to fight or speak out against)
Trust me, Frith stands for blinding metaphors and supposed reactionary mistrust of liberty, but nothing about real truth, personal choice or freedom.
If you have a "lively mind" then never think it is a danger to yourself, as others may secretly have you believe.
