Does the term "net neutrality" mean anything ? It should do !
What you're seeing is the first signs in this country of the media demonizing the internet as we know it - by pointing the finger at "dangerous bloggers", "child molesters", and those that use it "irresponsibly"
Similar to the nanny state they are starting to argue that becasue some people can't be trusted to use it responsibly(flimsy argument at best), therefore we must all suffer and have it taken away from us !
How innacurate, ridiculous and totally unfair !
As for internet illness, like everything else, it is fine if people don't over-do their consumption - the same for TV, alcohol, chocolate whatever.
But to pretend there is "internet illness" is simply ridiculous.
Feeling tired because you've been using it too much ? Then switch off and go to bed you moron ! It's the fact that you're not looking after your body properly, not some "evil" website you're surfing.
The internet isn't bad and doesn't have any "illness" attached to it - the only virus is a computer one you may pick up.
even if it really was true, then wouldn't television, computer games be attacked too for the same reasons ?
Oh but there is an interest to keep those freely available, but without the same criticism. Ah - yes !
Since it's inception the internet has allowed the free flow of information across the world and is accessable to anyone, by anyone.
So why would on earth they want to stop it ?
If you look at China for example that censors a lot of information, it could well be that our growing totalitarian state is trying to cut off the freedom of information and the threat of "conspiracy theorists". Why ? Because they realize information is poweful and people are starting to wake up and find out a lot of the alternative media is true, whilst viewing figues in the mainstream are down, down down.....
But whether you agree with "conspiracy theories" or not, whenever information is access is restricted or censored, it
never leads to a more free, open or fair society.
That is why we must all stand up for net neutrality or we will turn into a Chinese style system where you are vetted for access to particular websites and doubly charged fo rthe priviledge.
Single mum or out of work ? Sorry you can't access that information.....
