All well and good until/if you lose your job. Then said 3 or 4 wives become a burden on everyone else if you follow a social/religious code that dictates they can not work.
Of course you could abolish all forms of welfare, then the other side effect of course being lots of begging families. When the economy takes a down turn and the families that where permitted to have 5 wives and are irresponsible end up on the streets who is going to clear that mess up?
