Why even try to save Africa? Why not do the right thing and leave the whole damm place to evolve into whatever it is going to evolve into and deal with what emerges.

We evolved into what we are. If some outside interference had “saved” us during our progression along our evolutionary path we would in all probability still be living in mud huts. (well, probably not mud especially with the weather just recently) but the principle stands.

It’s not a nice thought and even worse to see a child starving for want of a crust after its parents have spent what cash they have on a new gun or a packet of the local equivalent of Woodbine but the genes that the parent had will be lost from the pool by the kid dying and not passing the gene set to another generation.

The trouble is that in the case of most of us in our genome are genes that make us much more compassionate and willing to share with others for a common good. We had to be to survive the climate. For that characteristic quite apart from the Christian morality that still is there in OUR culture to interfere with the Darwinian development of African people may give us a warm glow but is doing them no good at all and in fact harm in the long term.

What is really needed is not hand outs, it’s trade, what is needed is not modern medicines against AIDS and the like, it’s letting the societies absorb the principle that immorality equates to death.

Hard, but then nature is.

It is, of course, never going to happen. To much political kudos to be gained for politicians by sticking their noses in and the do-gooders have a fit of the vapors at the very thought of evolution in practice. .
